BADLANDS is a boutique film production house founded in 2019 by Sydney filmmakers James Robert Woods and Stephanie Jane Day. Our vision is to create authentic, bold and uncompromising Australian Cinema.

Since launch, Badlands has produced a long line of classy corporates, viral music videos and arthouse short films such as SXSW-darling False As A Beach and the multi-award winning Svengali.

In 2023, Badlands transitioned to longform storytelling, commencing production on two features, Woods's acerbic rom-com Moonrise Over Knights Hill, and Day's opulent family drama The Ceremony. Moonrise wrapped principal photography in NSW's Southern Highlands in October '23 and is currently in post, while The Ceremony is being developed alongside Create NSW with a view towards a 2024 shoot.
